Job title: TRADE COMPLIANCE ANALYST
Summary/Objective: As a Global Trade Compliance Analyst will assist in driving global operation activities related to global trade compliance functions including import and export compliance activities such as Restricted Party Listing screening, license application, end-user/end use verification, export document support, compliance audits, training and Import and Export product classification support, among other responsibilities.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities.
- Support and facilitate global business strategies, partnering with internal business units to develop, support or maintain programs by applying regulatory knowledge to assure trade compliance for Samtec.
- Ensure adherence to Global Import/Export regulations, including OFAC, EAR, ITAR, FCC and other global government agencies in all activities.
- Conduct internal Customs Compliance Audits/Self-assessments to verify compliance in Samtec global locations.
- Assist day-to-day import/export operational processes and questions.
- Determine product classifications for all imported/exported products.
- Training and communication with all relevant departments to ensure compliance with global trade regulations.
- Engaging with external customers in trade compliance matters as necessary.
- Involved in all import/export government inquiries/audits.
- Build and maintain relationships with Customs and government agencies where applicable.
- Work in conjunction with Global Trade Compliance and Logistics team to ensure that Samtec is meeting all regulatory requirements globally.
- Assist in developing and maintaining import/export policies and procedures, and standardizing (when able).
- Work closely with our primary transportation carriers and approved brokers.
- Screen trade partners against denied parties lists to ensure compliance.
- Consistently seek process improvement opportunities in trade elements.
- Collaborate and manage projects with other areas of the business to meet Trade requirements.

Required Experience:
- 5+ Years’ Experience in Customs & Trade experience in a multinational organization managing import/export customs compliance in Costa Rica's customs systems, with the ability to interpret and analyze regulations independently.
- Knowledge of import/export customs compliance with the ability to interpret and analyze regulations independently.
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate various day-to-day activities simultaneously.
- Must be analytically inclined.
- Self-starter that’s able to perform duties with little supervision, willing to make decisions, and proven leadership skills.
- History of working with various government agencies (DGA-Dirección General de Aduana, PROCOMER, MS- Ministerio de Salud).
- A history of demonstrating successful problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Having a “sense of urgency” required.
- Highly skilled in research in investigative techniques.
- Logistics/transportation experience is an advantage (TICA, DELZOF, DELTA).
- Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs
Education
- BA/BS Degree in Business or Supply Chain is preferred.
Training required
- On the job training as appropriate.
